ultimo fine settimana.

My family got back into town on Friday night from their tour, but since I had Clara's gallery, I didn't meet up with them until Saturday morning. I was going to meet them for breakfast, but by the time we were supposed to meet, I was only halfway to the hotel. The combination of public transportation and the fact that their hotel was literally in the middle of nowhere equaled huge fail. So instead we decided to just meet in front of the Vatican museum, which was our destination for the day.

We got through all of the picture gallery, as well as the Sistine chapel. Plus it gave me an opportunity to study for my final by playing tour guide!

After the museum we grabbed some lunch and then just shopped around. It was a very nice afternoon.

That night Mickey, Edgar, Vivi, Clara and me went out to dinner in Trastevere. It was really busy so we ended up in the back of some random restaurant that really wasn't all that great, but at least we had good company. After dinner we went to On the Rox, which is a bar in Testaccio. They have a drink called the "Zombie" so we all got that and did a cheers to "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?" It was epic if I do say so myself. We had a lot of fun playing marry, date, or dump with the people that walked by, and watching drunken girls in heels fall on the hidden curb by our table. I know, I'm a terrible person, but it really was entertaining.

The next day my family came to my apartment in the morning to go to the Porta Portese market. We gave everyone 2 hours and walked around. The majority of us went to get pastries from my favorite pasticcerie, which I was definitely okay with! :D

After the market, we went to the center of Trastevere for lunch. We had such a good time just catching up and enjoying some quality Italian food that wasn't over priced and touristy (which my family ran into everywhere they went). Both my grandma and great aunt are painters, so after lunch I took them to Piazza Navona, otherwise known as the painter's square. It's my favorite piazza, so needless to say pictures were taken!

After gelato and some more shopping, I said goodbye to the family as they were leaving bright and early the next day. It was soo much fun having them come to Italy and I wouldn't trade it for anything! My last weekend was the perfect mix of friends, family, and Rome, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
